Expand Your Page

design by Leslie Lightfoot

Whether you construct your own or purchase a ready-made product, page expanders allow you to get extra space by adding a flap to the edge of your page. (Some page protectors accommodate flaps in certain sizes.) By using this technique, you add working space that holds photos on the front and the back. Leslie used a hinged flap to attach a page extension documenting her daughter’s first birthday. The hinged flap conceals the first two photos on Leslie’s page and perfectly coordinates with the spread. By adding the 8-1/2" x 11" flap, Leslie could fit five extra photos while still keeping her design clean and uncluttered. The flap, when opened, makes the width of the two-page layout 32".
