Including your handwriting doesn't mean shunning technology completely. For this page Tracy handwrote her journaling, scanned it into her computer, and then created brushes for each sentence in Adobe Photoshop. She used those brushes to "stamp" the handwritten images in different sizes onto the photo.

I don't do digital pages so scanning isn't necessary for me. I handwrite 99% of my journaling. For a few years I typed my journaling on the computer and those pages seem less warm & fuzzy than the ones I write by hand. I went back to hand journaling a couple of years ago and I like it so much better.
