Many of us have these mug trees in our kitchens, but have you thought about turning it into a kitschy storage unit for scrapbooking supplies? The individual cups allow you to group writing tools by color, and since most manufacturers recommend storing pens and markers horizontally, the angle is just right. It's also easy to take color groups to another room to work.
Approximate cost: $30 (with mugs)
Make creative paper piecings with our free patterns and instructions.
By hanging pen/pencil cups on the edge of a shelf, makes it difficult to get something off the shelf below. Have to remove the cups first.
7/29/2010 11:19:41 AM Report AbuseI would love to see some new ideas.
7/29/2010 10:02:16 AM Report AbusePlease new storage ideas and craft rooms showing room size. Starting to wonder if you read these comments!

5/6/2010 12:11:47 AM Report AbuseThe little individual jelly jars that you get at some hotels and restaurants are great for brads, beads, eyelets, etc.
3/22/2010 01:52:09 PM Report Abuselove the binder and page protector idea! gonna run out to purchase..i have been storing mine in those really cute baskets, they are very decorative and cute but, my stickers and rub ons are starting to clutter in them and a pain to go through a whole stack to find the right one....great idea , thanks..
3/19/2010 10:57:49 AM Report AbuseI agreed, we need some new ideas. Some of the ideas look good in photos but not very practical. Just like what iowagal5 wrote - i agreed with you on the mug holder!
3/12/2010 02:40:40 AM Report AbuseI enjoy recycling as much as the next person, but I've seen the ideas for at least the last three months
2/11/2010 03:40:52 PM Report AbuseI do all kinds of crafts, have limited space to do them in, but have been "inventing" storage containers. I use things ppl would normally throw away. I use things like containers from the kids lunchables to soup cans. Anything. I will use old stuff and turn them into something else. Just get overwhemled sometimes but I have fun..
2/11/2010 01:16:30 PM Report AbuseWhere do you find the "shoe cubby" featured on pg. 2 of Scrapbook Low-Cost solutions?
2/1/2010 09:50:20 PM Report AbuseI agree. Its time for some new ideas. I have seen these at least twice before. The mug holder looks cute in the picture, but not in real-life. As soon as you bump it - all the pens spill out.
1/24/2010 02:24:14 PM Report AbuseI wish that all rooms shown would give room size. - This is a great room but have seen it a bunch - want new spaces. Thanks
1/21/2010 11:37:58 AM Report AbuseA majority of these ideas have been used over and over month after month. I would love to see some new ideas instead of repeating the same ones.
1/18/2010 11:33:39 AM Report AbuseI started Scrapbooking before there were ever "archival" quality supplies anywhere, but at Office Supply stores. One of the first things I did was use the Use Binders and Page Protectors to Store die cuts and stickers. I'm still using them and that was 15 years ago.
1/16/2010 11:19:58 PM Report AbuseI have these pen holders holding my markers, pens etc. They are hung on my peg board by S hooks--that way I can take them to my table when needed! Works great.
