I was inspired by "New York Aquarium" in the August 2011 issue of Scrapbooks Etc. I like how it features many photos in a fun, colorful way, and the use of circles makes it playful and whimsical - I knew it'd be perfect for my layout about the Summer Youth Music Camp I teach each year. I swapped aquarium paper for music paper, and adjusted the placement and size of the larger photos to accomodate my 2 4x5". I also added an extra strip of colored paper at the top to unify my color scheme. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the dimensions shared in the sketch are incorrect - a fact I figured out after printing my photos for the circles and cutting some of my patterned paper. If you add up the vertical dimensions printed, you get 15". To compensate for this, I trimmed down the white and green strip from 3" to 3/4". I also overlapped the 3/4" strip with the 3" strip of brown and gold music paper beneath it. The circles were incorrectly sized as well, I'm guessing 1 1/2" would have done the trick, but 1 3/4" was too big to fit 6 on the page without overlapping. Overall, though, I am pleased with the result. I don't know if I'd have liked it as much if I hadn't had to make those adjustments!
