CREATE A CHRISTMAS TREE FROM PAPER SCRAPS AND EMBELLISHMENTS
Design by Monica Schoenemann
Monica created a contemporary Christmas tree with strips of coordinating patterned papers, embellishing the branches with colorful buttons and adhesive rhinestones.
Step-by-step directions:
1. Cover the left side of a sheet of white cardstock with red patterned paper and add a strip of light green patterned paper to the bottom of the page. Top the light green strip with a slightly smaller strip of scalloped-edge cardstock to make a home for the scrapbook page title and journaling.
2. Cut strips of patterned paper in varying lengths and stack them in the Christmas treelike shape as shown, overlapping the white and red backgrounds. Embellish the strips with buttons and adhesive gems.
3. Add a square photo on the left side, covering one end of each patterned-paper strip.
4. Finish the page by adding computer-printed journaling strips, a chipboard letter title, and a chipboard star accent.
SOURCES Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper. Patterned paper: Chatterbox. Font: Century Gothic. Chipboard accents: Pressed Petals (star), Scenic Route Paper Co. (letters). Buttons: Autumn Leaves. Rhinestones: Heidi Swapp.
